Wydad Casablanca carry the hopes of Africa into the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday with a meeting against Mexican side Pachuca in Abu Dhabi.

It is a competition in which African clubs have excelled in the past, reaching two finals, but Wydad will be hoping to become the first to lift the trophy with Brazilian side Gremio and possibly also Real Madrid standing in their way.

In this feature, KweséESPN takes a look at Africa's history in the competition in numbers.

0 - The number of victories that African clubs have managed against European opposition in the Club World Cup from three games.

This includes losses to Real Madrid (Raja Casablanca, 2-3), Bayern Munich (Raja Casablanca, 0-2) and Inter Milan (TP Mazembe, 0-3).

The last two games were both in the final in 2013 and 2010 respectively.

2 - African sides have made the final of the tournament twice, losing on both occasions. TP Mazembe were beaten 3-0 by Inter Milan in 2010, while Raja Casablanca lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in 2013.

4 - The number of victories from nine games that African sides have claimed against teams from the CONCACAF region, all Mexican teams. It is the most success they have had against clubs from a specific region.

5 - The heaviest defeat for an African side in the competition came in 2013 when Al Ahly were beaten 5-1 by Mexican side Monterrey.
