Guardiola hails five-title Bayern

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola believes winning the Club World Cup was a fitting way for the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League victors to end the year.

Claiming a 2-0 triumph in the final against hosts Raja Casablanca, Bayern secured their fifth title victory of 2013.

Early goals from Dante and Thiago were enough for Bayern, who also won the German Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in the past 12 months, leading new boss Guardiola to praise his team.

"2013 is now finished and it's behind us," said Guardiola. "Five titles is really a great achievement. I am proud of this club and for all the people involved.

"Since my arrival I have tried to care for the heritage of the club. Now I will try and add other things that I hope will be positive for the club. We have to turn to the future."

Raja coach Faouzi Benzarti, meanwhile, expressed his pride in the Moroccans’ performance.

"I think my players were a little nervous in the first half, with the crowd and with the king being present," he said. "But to lose to Bayern by only 2-0 is very honourable."

After the match, goalscorer Thiago revelled in Bayern's latest silverware-winning achievement.
