Cologne's Anthony Modeste: I'm not like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo

Cologne attacker Anthony Modeste has said that -- unlike Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi -- he needs his team to help him score goals.

Modeste, 28, currently tops the Bundesliga goal-scoring chart with 11 in 10 appearances, alongside Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Across the top European leagues, only Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani is on level with the Bundesliga duo but, speaking to Bild, Modeste played down his efforts.

"I am not like Messi or Ronaldo," he said. "I can't dribble past three, four players and then score. I can't do anything without my teammates."

Modeste's goals have helped Cologne make an impressive start to the season, and they are currently sixth, two points behind the Champions League places.

When asked how he feels about joining the European scoring elite, Modeste said: "My friends might make screenshots of it.

"Sure, it's good for me, but it's important those goals help FC Cologne, our team. We want to stay up there."

Modeste arrived in the Bundesliga from Bastia in 2013 when he joined Hoffenheim, for whom he scored 19 goals in two seasons.

In 2015, he joined Cologne and scored 15 goals in his first season.
