Chelsea target Baba Rahman involved in car accident

Chelsea target Baba Rahman had car accident during his holidays which left the Augsburg defender with several cuts to his face.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Chelsea are leading the race to sign Ghana defender Rahman, 21, from Augsburg.

The Ghana international's car hit a parked car in the middle of a country road near the Ghanaian capital Accra.

"It was dark and I did not see the car at first. When I slammed the brake it was too late," Rahman said in Bild.

Although Rahman's seatbelt was fastened and the airbag went off, he suffered severe injuries to his face. His stitches are due to be removed in the coming days.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl said: "That could have ended really bad. We are happy to have him back."

Club president Klaus Hofmann is looking for a fee of over €20 million for Rahman.
