MANCHESTER, England -- Casey Stoney's appointment as Manchester United women's head coach shows the club's desire to see the new team succeed, according to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Stoney, who won 130 England caps, will lead United in next season's Women's Championship after the FA granted the club a licence.

Eni Aluko, the former England striker, will leave Chelsea Ladies this summer.

Eni Aluko said she will leave Chelsea Ladies "with a heavy heart" this summer.

The striker helped Chelsea win the Women's FA Cup and the Women's Super League title, which they claimed with a 2-0 victory at Bristol City Women, this season.
