Sam Allardyce won't let Everton get carried away after Swansea win

Everton manager Sam Allardyce admits he is not getting too carried away with his side's good form that has seen them climb to ninth in the Premier League.

Allardyce's side came from a goal down to beat Swansea 3-1 at Goodison Park to continue the club's resurgence under him.

A relegation battle a month ago has been replaced with aspirations of finishing in the top half of the table.

Asked what the target is for his Toffees, Allardyce told Sky Sports: "Top half, I think.

"We're not getting too carried away.

"Delivering 13 points from a possible 15 is an outstanding feat from where we came from and what position we were in.

"I watched the West Ham game and that got us off to a good start, winning 4-0. We've scored 11 goals in the last five games and we've kept a number of clean sheets.

"I'm hugely disappointed we conceded from a corner but we recovered from that.

"To come from 1-0 down to win shows a lot of character which maybe was missing before I got here but the character was there today when we needed it.''

Swansea boss Paul Clement had to replace his striker Wilfried Bony after just three minutes following a hamstring injury.

It left him light on attacking options, but his side took the lead through Leroy Fer 10 minutes before half-time.

But Everton increased the pressure on Clement with three goals as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney bagged to leave the Swans four points from safety.

Asked if he was confident of getting the backing from the board to turn things around, Clement told Sky Sports: "The only thing to do is to reflect on the game and how we could have done better and focus very much on our performance for Saturday against Palace.

"First of all, [we've] got to concentrate on what is a massive game coming up on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

"They've turned a corner a little bit.

"They've improved in form.

"It's a really important game for us and we've got to get the win and get to 15 points and then we are into the second half of the season.''
