Everton manager Ronald Koeman: Spurs test is not different to any other

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has told Sport360 that his side will not approach Sunday's game at Tottenham differently to any other Premier League match.

Spurs are second in the table, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea -- but Everton, in seventh place, are eyeing a late run for European qualification.

And Koeman said: "The question has been asked if our game against Tottenham represents some kind of extra test, as if it is different to the other challenges we have faced already this season.

"This is a tough challenge against a strong team at home and we will need to be at our best level -- but this is the same no matter who you play in the Premier League.

"Such is the strength of the league now that you have to be positive and aggressive in your play, do the right things and concentrate throughout the 90 minutes against every team."

Former Southampton boss Koeman praised Tottenham as "a really good football team with really strong individual qualities" but added that he believed the changes made at Everton mean they can look forward to a bright future.

"Little by little we have changed some important things in the team and we made good signings in the summer, as well as in January," he said.

"Take young Ademola Lookman, who we signed from Charlton.

"This is the kind of player who is the future of Everton. He is the perfect example of the fact that if you are good enough you will play. Tom Davies is another."

Koeman said Morgan Schneiderlin, a January signing from Manchester United, was "one of the best midfielders in the Premier League."

The manager worked with Schneiderlin at Southampton and added: "I'm really happy that we have Morgan in the Everton team.

"He showed from the beginning his qualities, his commitment to the club and to the team."
