Seamus Coleman, Romelu Lukaku both injured in win vs. Manchester City

Everton could be without Seamus Coleman for up to four weeks after he suffered a calf injury in their Capital One Cup victory over Manchester City.

The Merseysiders suffered three injury blows, with midfielder Tom Cleverley suffering a lesser calf problem and striker Romelu Lukaku taking a knock to his ankle.

The Belgian, who scored his 12th goal in 12 games to give Everton a semifinal first-leg lead, will be seen by the club's medical department on Thursday, but manager Roberto Martinez does not believe he will be sidelined for long.

"Romelu had a knock on his ankle," Martinez said. "We are going to assess him. I don't know if he will be available for the weekend [against Dagenham & Redbridge] but I don't think it is too serious.

"Seamus has pulled his calf. Those things are between three weeks and four weeks."

Coleman could miss the second leg of the tie with City, which will be played at the Etihad Stadium on Jan. 27, and Martinez was delighted with his players for their display to earn a 2-1 advantage.

"It is more than happiness," he said. "I am very, very proud of the performance. We played eye to eye against a very good Manchester City side.

"It showed how far we have come since August [when City won at Goodison]. We are not getting carried away. We know we have a huge challenge in front of us and are looking forward to the second leg.

"Today's performance means more than just a win in the semifinal of the League Cup. The winning mentality to get that [second] goal was really impressive."

City manager Manuel Pellegrini felt Everton's first goal should not have stood, because he thought Romelu Lukaku was offside before Ramiro Funes Mori scored, and claimed his side should have had a penalty for Kevin Mirallas' challenge on Jesus Navas.

But Martinez disagreed, saying: "Romelu tries to get away from the sight of the keeper. He makes a very good save which shows you he is not impeded and then Ramiro scores. I don't think it was a penalty on Jesus Navas. You need to look for better contact. Overall, I thought we deserved to win."
