Ex-Everton boss Howard Kendall's funeral to take place next week

The funeral of former Everton manager Howard Kendall will take place at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral next week.

The service for Kendall, who died on Saturday at the age of 69, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Further details of arrangements will be announced in the coming days, but the service will be open to all.

Kendall was the most successful manager in Everton's history, winning the league title twice along with the FA Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup.

As a player, he was part of the club's famous "Holy Trinity" along with Alan Ball and Colin Harvey.

Kendall won the title as an Everton player in 1969, but his finest achievements came when he returned to Goodison Park as boss in 1981.

Within three years he had won the First Division championship, repeating the feat in 1987 as the Toffees became a powerhouse of British football.

An Everton statement on Saturday read: "It is with great sadness that Everton Football Club has learned of the passing of Howard Kendall.

"[He was] the most successful manager in the history of the club, and one of the greatest players to pull on the Everton jersey."

Kendall played for Preston, Birmingham, Stoke and Blackburn, before also managing Blackburn, Athletic Bilbao, Manchester City, Notts County, Sheffield United and Greek sides Xanthi and Ethnikos Piraeus.
