Aaron Lennon targeting trophies at Everton after Tottenham exit

LIVERPOOL -- Aaron Lennon has set a target of ending Everton's 20-year trophy drought after acknowledging that he could finish his career at Goodison Park.

Lennon is set to make his second debut for the Toffees when they host Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, having completed a permanent move from Tottenham on Sept. 1 after a loan spell on Merseyside last season.

The winger, 28, spent preseason training with the Spurs youth team after being frozen out of the senior squad by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

But he has been declared match fit by Everton boss Roberto Martinez, who has confirmed that he will be in the squad.

Lennon spent 10 years at Tottenham, and has not ruled out a similarly long stay at Goodison Park.

He said: "You never know in football and I don't think about it, but I can't see why not.

"Coming to Goodison over the years as a visiting player, I have felt that support that the fans give here, but I didn't realise just how good it is until I arrived here last season."

Lennon's ambition is to help Everton secure their first trophy since 1995, when Joe Royle led to them to an FA Cup final victory over Manchester United.

He said: "There is absolutely no reason why we can't win a trophy and be challenging for a place in Europe. There is a lot of talent in the squad here."
