Martinez: Best win of the season (1:25)

Roberto Martinez gave his reaction on Sunday after QPR went down 2-1 at home to Everton in the Premier League. (1:25)

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar will return to full training on Monday after more than three months out with a knee injury, manager Roberto Martinez says.

The former South Africa captain has not played since his club's 3-1 Premier League win over Queens Park Rangers on Dec. 15.

Pienaar has had an injury-hit season, having missed more than a month with a groin problem sustained against Arsenal in August.

Martinez has indicated that the 33-year-old is close to a return from his most recent setback. But the manager stopped short of guaranteeing that Pienaar would be ready for Everton's next match, at home to Southampton in the Premier League on Apr. 4.

Martinez was quoted on the club's website: "We had very good news on Steven.

"He's going to join the group on Monday and we'll take it from that point on, making sure that slowly but surely we give him the right path to being fully fit and being able to enjoy his football again.

"We've missed Stevie massively throughout this season and it's important we'll be able to see him on a football pitch before the season ends."
