Tim Howard says Everton are in no danger of relegation

Tim Howard insists Everton are in no danger of being relegated despite their poor Premier League form.

Roberto Martinez's side are six points above the relegation zone after winning one of their last 12 league matches.

U.S. international goalkeeper Howard, though, feels that there is no cause for panic as Everton prepare to face Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 36-year-old told the Mail on Sunday: "I have been in England for 12 years.

"I get that people want to have a beer in the pub and talk about how dangerous it all is. It's not, we get two wins on the bounce and we are straight up there.

"Teams below us have all it to do as well. We're not in the middle of a relegation fight."

Howard has also reiterated his intention to stay at Everton until his contract expires in 2018 and then retire, rather than return to Major League Soccer.

The goalkeeper, who left United States club football when he joined Manchester United from the MetroStars in 2003, was linked with an MLS move in January.

Both Howard and Everton manager Martinez have dismissed that prospect since, and there is little chance of that changing, according to the keeper.

He said: "I have three years left on my contract and then I'm finished."
