Kevin Mirallas closing on Everton comeback after training return

Everton forward Kevin Mirallas is back in training after almost seven weeks out with a hamstring injury, the club have confirmed.

Mirallas, 27, suffered the injury during the 1-1 Premier League draw at Liverpool on Sep. 27 and was carried from the pitch on a stretcher.

Manager Roberto Martinez has been reluctant to set a return date for the Belgium international amid concern that rushing him back too soon could aggravate the injury.

But in a statement on their official website, Everton said Mirallas had taken part in a training session at the club's Finch Farm base on Thursday.

Martinez suggested in a news conference on Nov. 7 that Mirallas was "two to three weeks away" from a comeback, but added: "It's difficult to put a timescale on it because he is a sprinter."
