Osman signs new Everton deal

Everton midfielder Leon Osman has signed a new contract that will keep him at Goodison Park until the summer of 2015.

Leon Osman fires Everton into the lead against Manchester City
Osman has had a standout season for Everton

Osman, 32, agreed a two-year deal to replace his current contract, which had one more season to run.

His representatives have been in talks with the club for several months, with manager David Moyes - who is leaving this summer to take over at Manchester United - stating in January that he was keen to secure the player’s Goodison Park future.

The new deal has come at the end of a successful personal season for the midfielder, who made his England debut in a friendly against Sweden in November, won his second cap in an 8-0 World Cup qualifying victory in San Marino in March and scored eight goals for his club.

Osman, who joined Everton as a 16-year-old in 1997, made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 4-3 Premier League defeat at Tottenham in January 2003. He has since gone on to make 345 appearances for the club, scoring 51 goals.

He started all but two of Everton’s Premier League games this season, but missed Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea with a knee injury.
