Renato Sanches of Portugal named Euro Young Player of the Tournament

Renato Sanches was named as Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016 after helping Portugal win the title in France.

Portugal beat the hosts 1-0 with an extra-time goal from Eder allowing Fernando Santos' team to claim their nation's first-ever major international title.

Sanches, 18, was already the youngest player to play for the Portugal national team, breaking a record held by teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

He then broke another of Ronaldo's records on Sunday, when he became the youngest player ever to feature in a European Championship final, when he started for his country at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

The newly-minted Bayern Munich man only played as a substitute in three of the team's first four matches, but he was given the start against Poland in the quarterfinals and he made the most of it by scoring a goal in regular time, before Portugal went on to win on penalties.

Sanches' new Bayern Munich teammate and France international Kingsley Coman and fellow Portuguese Raphael Guerreiro finished behind him for the award.
