Pitches 'will be good' for remaining Euro 2016 matches - UEFA director

Two problem pitches at the Euro 2016 should be in better shape for their last matches, says UEFA's tournament director.

At Stade de France, which hosts the final on Sunday, and in Marseille, where France play Germany in the semifinal on Thursday, playing surfaces have been criticised.

Both venues host concerts and other events, and soaked up heavy rainfall during this summer's tournament.

France coach Didier Deschamps was unhappy with the quality of the Marseille pitch after their game there against Albania, but UEFA official Martin Kallen says the turf -- which was already relaid in mid-May -- should now be the best it's been.

Kallen says the Stade de France pitch "was much better" for France's quarterfinal 5-2 win over Iceland.

And for the final on Sunday, he said: "It will not be excellent ... but it will be good. We have to have pitches in top condition."
