Paul Pogba: Transfer value raises France fans' expectations of me

France midfielder Paul Pogba has said that some people expect too much from him because he is consistently being linked with a big-money transfer.

Pogba, 23, has often talked up his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or award, which recognises the world's best player, but he says that unlike previous winners like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he is not going to regularly score three goals per game.

"It's normal that the public expects a lot," Pogba told L'Equipe. "Because when you hear talk of me, you hear what? The prices -- 'Paul Pogba is worth this much, he costs this...' etc etc.

"The people who don't know football are then logically going to say to themselves 'Ah but this player who costs so much, why doesn't he score more?'

"They're not going to think about the fact that I'm a midfielder -- they're just going to think through the prism of money. But that doesn't bother me."

Last month Pogba's former Juve team mate Andrea Pirlo said that the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona may have to pay over €100 million to sign the ex-Manchester United player. Such a deal would make the four-time Serie A champion the world's most expensive footballer.

Juventus midfielder Pogba, will be one of the key players for France when the hosts get their Euro 2016 campaign underway against Romania on Friday night.
