Wales' Gareth Bale: Pressure on England for Euro 2016 clash

Gareth Bale has told The Times that he believes England will be feeling the weight of expectation ahead of their Euro 2016 clash with Wales this summer.

The two neighbours meet on June 16 at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens for the Group B game, with both sets of supporters eagerly anticipating the fixture.

Russia and Slovakia also feature in the same group, but the tie against England is the one Bale is most looking forward to playing in.

"It's England-Wales. It's the biggest game for the Welsh fans," the Real Madrid man said. "It's the biggest game of the tournament if you look at the groups, and of the games that will have been played so far, it's definitely the standout fixture. It's a game we're looking forward to."

England head into the match as favourites following their 100 percent record in Euro 2016 qualifying, while they also sit 14 places ahead of Wales in the FIFA World Ranking.

And with Wales participating in only their first major tournament since 1958, Bale feels England are the side that will need to worry more about expectation levels.

"All the pressure is on England. The English press like to blow them up before they've done anything," Bale said. "For me and the whole Welsh team we really get supported. They don't put us under severe pressure. We've been really bad -- we've been 100th in the world. So to be where we are now [24th], there's no pressure, we're enjoying it.

"It's the good pressure not the bad pressure of being down there, not qualifying. We're going into the Euros, looking forward to it. Our country know if we give 100 percent that's all they can ask for."
