Harry Kane should be first on England teamsheet - Alan Shearer

England legend Alan Shearer believes Harry Kane should be the first name on the teamsheet for the Three Lions at this summer's European Championship.

Kane, 22, scored twice for the second consecutive weekend as Tottenham beat Bournemouth 3-0 on Sunday, taking his tally to 21 goals for the campaign -- the same number he managed last season and two more than England teammate Jamie Vardy in the race for the Golden Boot.

The striker also joined an elite group of five Englishman, including Shearer, to reach 20 goals in consecutive Premier League seasons and he has set his sights on Shearer's all-time record of 260 Premier League goals.

England boss Roy Hodgson has plenty of attacking talent at his disposal, and Kane and Vardy are joined by Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge in the squad for the upcoming friendlies with Germany and Netherlands.

With England's record goal scorer Wayne Rooney due to return from injury ahead of Euro 2016, Kane's place in the starting lineup is not guaranteed, but Shearer has called on Hodgson to put his faith in the youngster.

"Harry Kane should be the first name on the teamsheet for England. I don't think anyone can argue with that," Shearer told Coral. "The questions now are who plays with him if you play two up front? If you don't, then who plays behind him?

"The England guys for Spurs were brilliant. Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier, Harry Kane and Dele Alli were all absolutely superb.

"Kane is just 22-years-old and already has 45 Premier League goals to his name and counting. He's a top quality player and he's going to be around for a long time."

Former Spurs and England midfielder Danny Murphy agrees with Shearer and believes Kane has the potential to be one of his country's all-time greats.

"Harry Kane is potentially one of the best English strikers we have ever seen," he told talkSPORT. "At such a young age, he shows great maturity in his performances, continues to work tremendously hard and his finishing seems natural on both feet.

"He seems to always have time in the box, which is a great trait, but he also takes things early. He also has the ability to link play."

Murphy also expressed his belief that Kane should be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Roy Hodgson at Euro 2016 this summer.

"Is [Wayne] Rooney fit or not? Is [Daniel] Sturridge going to be scoring from now until the end of the season? Will [Jamie] Vardy get his goal-scoring boots back on?" he added. "Harry Kane has to start for me -- 100 percent he has to start. It will take a brave man to put an argument together to say he shouldn't."
