Low's new Germany comes at a price

UEFA Nations League exceeds expectations, proves to be a tasty appetizer to Euro 2020

Kate Markgraf reacts to Italy's stunning win over Australia and explains why it's still too early to tell if Brazil are contenders at the Women's World Cup.
ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno and Shaka Hislop explain how Portugal won the tactical battle in the Nations League final over the Netherlands.
Goncalo Guedes netted the winner as reigning European champions Portugal defeated the Netherlands to win their second title in three years.

You need an hour or two and a patient listener to explain the new Nations League. Even a Rubik's cube is probably a shade easier. The competition, though, was surprisingly a big hit with good games, big crowds and a feeling that the matches had meaning. This, surely, was better than inconsequential friendlies with coaches changing six players on each side in the second half.

The climax of the tournament in Portugal felt like a mini-European Championship in itself. The four teams to qualify for...

Low hospitalised after freak dumbbell accident

Following their stoppage-time win over the Netherlands, the FC crew believe Leroy Sane and Germany may be turning a corner in their redevelopment.

Germany coach Joachim Low has been hospitalised with a squashed artery following a sports accident, the German FA has confirmed.

Low, 59, injured himself when a dumbbell fell on his chest during a training session a few weeks ago, German outlet Bild reported on Friday.

While the Bundestrainer initially played down the incident, he has now been hospitalised with circulatory disorders.

The German FA said in a statement Low will miss the upcoming matches against Belarus and Estonia, with assistant...

UEFA stands by Baku as Euro 2020 host city

UEFA has insisted that there are no concerns with Baku as a Euro 2020 host city despite the issues surrounding Wednesday's Europa League final between Arsenal and Chelsea.

European football's governing body told ESPN FC in a short statement that the transport problems for supporters of the two Premier League clubs will have no bearing on its standing for Euro 2020, when it will host three group games and a quarterfinal.

Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, an Armenian, has not made the trip to...

Tottenham's Rose: Racism fines same as I spend on night out

Shaka Hislop calls on UEFA to do more than assessing a monetary fine, following alleged racial abuse directed at England players in Montenegro.

Danny Rose has said racism will continue to be a problem in football as long as offending countries are fined what he would spend on a night out -- and he can't wait to see the back of the game.

The Tottenham left-back was among the England players targeted with chants by a section of home fans during the 5-1 Euro 2020 qualifying victory in Podgorica on March 25, and UEFA have since charged Montenegro with racist behaviour.
