Real Madrid and Croatia's Luka Modric set for spell out with injury

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is set for three weeks on the sidelines after picking up an injury while representing Croatia.

Modric was substituted in the 27th minute of Croatia's 1-1 draw with Italy on Sunday, in a game that was suspended twice after missiles were thrown onto the pitch.

The former Tottenham Hotspur players is reported by AFP to have suffered a groin strain that could keep him "out for three weeks," according to a spokesman.

If confirmed then Modric is set to miss the Liga matches with Eibar, Malaga and Celta Vigo, as well as the Champions League trip to FC Basel.

Modric has made 10 Liga appearances so far this season, scoring once and laying on two goals to help Real top of the table.
