Joachim Low believes Arsenal's Mesut Ozil is returning to his best

Germany coach Joachim Low has said he believes Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is on his way back to his best form.

Low was in the stands to watch Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and said he had been encouraged by Ozil's recent displays.

The former Real Madrid player has been criticised for inconsistent performances since his arrival in the Premier League last season, but won plaudits for his contribution to the 3-0 win at Aston Villa last month, in which he scored one goal and created another.

On Sunday, Ozil struggled to get into the game as the Gunners failed to register a shot on target, but Low told the official DFB website: "Mesut is in a good way, and he has recently had really strong performances for Arsenal. His form is improving."

With his side preparing for European Championship qualifiers against Poland and Ireland, Low also praised the contribution of Chelsea's Andre Schurrle, saying: "The World Cup win did him a lot of good -- he was strong before, but has even more confidence now."

He also backed striker Lukas Podolski, who came on as a late substitute for Arsenal on Sunday, saying: "Lukas' situation [of not getting into the Arsenal team] is difficult -- but he will cope with it, I am sure of that."
