France can't afford to omit Karim Benzema, says Zinedine Zidane

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane feels that France cannot afford to leave Karim Benzema out of their Euro 2016 squad.

Last month Benzema, 28, was suspended from the national team indefinitely after he was charged with conspiracy to blackmail for an alleged role in an attempt to extort money from France team mate Mathieu Valbuena.

There are serious doubts about whether the case will be resolved both in time and in a fashion that would enable the Real Madrid striker to feature at next summer's tournament.

Antonio Conte named Italy's top coach award for fourth straight year

Italy coach Antonio Conte picked up his latest award on Thursday night by being named La Gazzetta dello Sport's coach of the year for 2015.

The 46-year-old won the best coach awards in 2012, 2013 and 2014 both from his fellow coaches and from the Italian Professional Footballers' Association (AIC) after guiding Juventus to three straight Serie A titles, but now he has beaten even his successor on the Juve bench, Massimiliano Allegri, to earn La Gazzetta's prize for 2015.

Hosts France will be joined by holders Spain plus Germany, England, Portugal and Belgium as the six seeded nations at Euro 2016. France will automatically be drawn into position A1, playing their games in Paris, Marseille and Lille, with the other seeds placed into position 1 of groups B through to F.
