Gerard Pique: I have always given everything to Spain

The ESPN FC panel discuss their picks for the Ultimate Champions League final showdown.

Gerard Pique says he will not accept people doubting his commitment to the Spain national team, but that does not mean he does not support Catalonia's right to choose whether to be independent.

Euro 2012 and World Cup 2010 winner Pique's feelings for La Roja were questioned when he asked to be left out of the most recent international squad due to a hip injury, before he subsequently played for his club in La Liga.

The Bayern Munich winger's decision surprised UEFA president Michel Platini, who warned...

UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Wales for pitch invasion

Wales fans spilled onto the pitch after Gareth Bale scored his second goal on Tuesday.

NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Wales for a pitch invasion by fans during a 2-1 win at Andorra in a European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.

The Andorran federation is also facing sanctions after its players received six yellow cards and UEFA criticized "insufficient organization."

Gareth Bale struck twice to secure the win for Wales but some fans invaded the pitch to celebrate after the Real Madrid player scored the winner.

UEFA said a decision will...

Big clubs favoured, but Euro qualifying yielding surprises

ESPN FC's Derek Rae argues that UEFA and FIFA are strengthening the strong teams with their seeding methods.

After a week of the new, expanded and extended European championship qualifying round, Iain Macintosh has learned a few things.

Don't expect this to be a particularly interesting qualifying campaign. Thanks to Michel Platini's controversial expansion of the tournament, the big teams are really going to have to make an effort not to qualify.

The week's most surprising result, Portugal's 1-0 defeat to Albania, is unlikely to have any bearing on their...
