Hitting form in a run up to a major championship can transform the career of a player from the ordinary into something more thrilling and that was certainly the story for Darida in the last few weeks.
Having made an impact as a late substitute in a pre-tournament international against Israel, coach Michal Bilek decided to take the plunge and hand this untested right sided midfield player the final spot up for grabs in his Euro 2012 squad and he made no excuses for catching many observers off guard with his surprise pick.
“Darida looked very good in the small amount of time he has spent with the squad and he has earned his chance,” says Bilek. “He can be dangerous when shooting, offers good movement and is a young player with big potential. I hope he takes the opportunity that has been presented to him.”
