Zoff names initial Euro 2000 squad

Italy coach Dino Zoff has named an initial 26-man squad for Euro 2000.

Zoff must cut the squad to 22 players by 1 June.

Among players absent from the 22 are midfielders Massimo Ambrosini of AC Milan, Roma's Eusebio Di Francesco, and Lazio striker Simone Inzaghi.

Italy complete their preparations for Euro 2000 with a friendly against fellow-qualifiers Norway in Oslo on June 3.

Their first match in the tournament itself is against Turkey in Arnhem on 11 June. 26-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Parma), Francesco Toldo (Fiorentina), Francesco Antonioli (Roma).
Defenders: Fabio Cannavaro (Parma), Alessandro Nesta (Lazio), Ciro Ferrara (Juventus), Mark Iuliano (Juventus), Paolo Maldini (AC Milan), Paolo Negro (Lazio), Gianluca Pessotto (Juventus), Giuseppe Pancaro (Lazio).
Midfielders: Massimo Ambrosini (AC Milan), Demetrio Albertini (AC Milan), Dino Baggio (Parma), Antonio Conte (Juventus), Angelo Di Livio (Fiorentina), Stefano Fiore (Udinese), Diego Fuser (Parma), Gianluca Zambrotta (Juventus), Luigi Di Biagio (Inter Milan).
Forwards: Filippo Inzaghi (Juventus), Christian Vieri (Inter Milan), Francesco Totti (AS Roma), Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus), Vincenzo Montella (AS Roma), Marco Delvecchio (AS Roma).
