Profile:

Back on the bench for the Final but came on with 25 minutes to go and still contrived to miss two gilt-edged chances to seal an italian triumph. For 70,000-a-week, you probably expect better...

Preferred to Totti in the sem-final and while he had few opportunities to attack gave one of his best performances in an Italian shirt with a performance based on good old hard graft.

Came on for Fiore against Turkey and impressed with his willingness to run on to passes. Hit the angle with a fierce free-kick. Never really got into the game after coming on for Totti against Belgium, but scored a stunning late winner - and still had time to miss a clearer chance - against the Swedes .

Replaced Totti against Romania but looked very heavy-legged. Still doubts over his fitness.

A real enigma, del Piero has all the ability in the world but has struggled to find the net at club level in recent seasons.

He is one of the world's greatest dead-ball specialists and can take on and beat the best of defences almost at will, but has yet to turn on the style in a major international tournament.

There is no doubt that Italy's chances largely depend on his performances this summer and he is almost certain to start despite making only two appearances in qualifying.
