Profile:

The possibility of losing Campbell, who is currently considering whether to extend the one year remaining on his contract at White Hart Lane, sends a shudder down the spine of any Tottenham supporter.

Having made his England debut in May 1996, he has become a virtual regular in the national side ever since, had one of his best ever games against Argentina at the World Cup and has played on every occasions that he has been available to Keegan.

Against Scotland last November, he was asked to play out of position at right-back, where he performed admirably in the circumstances although Keegan's apparent willingness to repeat the move, if necessary, seems ill-advised.

Happier in a back four, he also operates on the right side of a back three when required.

Campbell wasn't his usual, dominant self on a bad night in the opening game - best illustrated as Joao Pinto beat him to the ball to head in Portugal's equaliser.

Replied with a strong performance against Germany.

Gave another physical performance in Englands 3-2 defeat by Romania, unfortunately the team did not perform well enough as a whole.
