Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has offered his support to under-fire Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius after his Champions League nightmare.

Karius was guilty of two mistakes as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev on Saturday night to claim the trophy for the third year in a row.

The 24-year-old -- who has received online abuse that is currently being investigated by Merseyside Police -- took to social media on Sunday to apologise to teammates and fans for his role in the defeat.

It prompted Bailly to put aside United's rivalry with Liverpool to reply to the German stopper on Instagram.

He wrote: "Stay strong Loris, you are a good goalkeeper."

Karius took over from Simon Mignolet as Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper, but the Belgian backup was empathetic following the mistakes.
