Arsenal say Thursday's match against Manchester City is set to go ahead as planned despite the adverse weather conditions in London.
The English capital has been blanketed by snow since Tuesday, causing disruptions on roads and public transport and raising safety concerns for people trying to get to the Emirates.
But Arsenal's ground staff have been working to get the pitch ready and the club said they expect the match to be played -- unless weather conditions deteriorate significantly.
"Thursday night's match against Manchester City at Emirates Stadium is scheduled to go ahead as planned," the club said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor weather conditions and work with local agencies but, unless there is a further announcement, the match is on."
The head groundsman at the Emirates, Reece Watson, also posted a photo on Instagram of workers getting the pitch ready.
"3rd time to clear the pitch," Watson wrote. "All stadium staff are helping to clear the stands. Great team effort, we are doing all we can to get this game on."
An Arsenal spokesman said earlier Thursday that the club was "in close liaison with Man City and all authorities" as they assessed the situation. The club also issued a statement to supporters warning that "severe weather may affect their travel arrangements" to the game and recommended that they give themselves "extra time to get to the ground, where necessary."
Transport for London reported severe delays on several underground lines, but the Piccadilly and Victoria lines -- which most fans use to get to the Emirates -- were both running.
The Manchester City players were pictured boarding a train in Manchester in heavy snowfall on Thursday as they travelled down to London.
The match was originally scheduled for this past Sunday but was postponed as the two teams faced each other in the Carabao Cup final, which Man City won 3-0.
