Arsenal slump at struggling Swansea, Liverpool stroll to Huddersfield win

Arsenal slumped to a dismal 3-1 defeat at struggling Swansea as keeper Petr Cech endured a night to forget.

The Gunners led after 33 minutes when Mesut Ozil's excellent pass was converted by Nacho Monreal -- but the advantage lasted only a minute before Alfie Mawson played in Sam Clucas to convert.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan made his Arsenal debut soon after half-time, coming on for Mohamed Elneny, but soon afterwards Cech miscued his attempt to clear a backpass and Jordan Ayew slid home.

Olivier Giroud came on for what may have been his last Arsenal appearance, replacing Alex Iwobi, but Clucas added another for the home side when he drilled in with time running out to lift te Swans off the bottom and up to 17th.

Liverpool strolled to a routine 3-0 win at Huddersfield Town as they put successive defeats to Swansea and West Bromwich Albion behind them.

It was Liverpool's first game since their FA Cup home loss to West Brom at the weekend and they initially struggled to break down the home side's deep defence.

But Emre Can broke through in the 26th minute, smashing a low half-volley past Jonas Lossl from a poor clearance.

Roberto Firmino doubled the advantage from a very tight angle in first-half injury time, and they added a third after the break when Can was adjudged to have been fouled in the area and Mohamed Salah converted from the penalty spot.

West Ham and Crystal Palace drew 1-1 at the London Stadium in a result that preserved the cushion between both sides and the danger zone.

David Moyes' side made a purposeful start but found themselves behind with 24 minutes gone when Andros Townsend got away from Declan Rice and his cross was headed powerfully home by Palace striker Christian Benteke.

But West Ham were level two minutes before the break when Javier Hernandez was caught by former Hammers defender James Tomkins inside the area and Mark Noble converted the penalty.

A tense second half in east London offered little in the way of chances, with the game petering out as honours ended even.
