Man City extend winning streak vs. Huddersfield, Arsenal leave it late

Raheem Sterling's late winner ensured Manchester City stretched their winning streak in the Premier League to 11 games with a 2-1 victory against Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium.

Huddersfield broke the deadlock just before half-time, with Christopher Schindler's header from a corner going in off Nicolas Otamendi's shoulder for an own goal.

But City found themselves level shortly after the restart, with Sergio Aguero sending Jonas Lossl the wrong way from the penalty spot after Raheem Sterling had been brought down by Scott Malone.

The visitors pushed for a winner as the second half went on but struggled as Aguero was denied by Lossl and Leroy Sane crashed a free kick against the woodwork.

But they found a breakthrough in the 84th minute when Sterling forced home a rebound after Gabriel Jesus's effort was saved by Lossl.

The result means City are now eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal missed out on the chance to move into the Premier League's top four after drawing 0-0 with Burnley at Turf Moor.

Arsenal had to rely on Petr Cech to keep the game goalless in the first half, with the keeper pushing Johann Berg Gudmundsson's strike onto the post, before later palming away Robbie Brady's free kick.

Alexandre Lacazette had chances to win the game for Arsenal in the second half, but was first denied by Nick Pope and then saw another effort deflect wide.

But with the game seemingly set to end all square, the visitors were awarded a penalty after Aaron Ramsey was pushed in the area, with Sanchez slotting it home at the death to secure the three points.

Charlie Austin scored a brace as Southampton moved into the top half of the table with a 3-1 victory over managerless Everton.

Dusan Tadic opened the scoring for the Saints in the 18th minute, slotting home after being played in by Ryan Bertrand, before Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised on the stroke of half-time, crashing in a strike from distance that went in off the bar and post.

But Southampton restored their lead shortly after the break with Austin heading a Bertrand cross in off the bar, before the striker doubled his tally six minutes later with another header, this time from a Tadic delivery.

There was still time for a fourth goal for the hosts, with Steven Davis curling home a strike from the edge of the box into the far corner in the 87th minute.
