Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane revels in 'best month' of career

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says September has been the best month of his career after he made it 13 goals in seven games for club and country with a double in Saturday's 4-0 Premier League win at Huddersfield Town.

Kane's tally is his best ever in a calendar month and equals the highest tallies in a single month by both Lionel Messi (13 in March 2012) and Cristiano Ronaldo (13 in October 2010).

The 23-year-old did not find the net in August but he capitalised on a mistake by Huddersfield defender Chris Lowe to open the scoring after nine minutes, before adding a sublime second with his left foot after Ben Davies had doubled Spurs' lead.

"It's probably the best month I've had, especially after August," Kane said the game. "It's nice, I feel good, I feel confident. It's easy with these boys putting in the crosses and the through balls. I was happy to put them away.

"I'm delighted with the win, it's a good week for us as a team and we've just got to continue our form after the international break.

"It wasn't straightforward, every game tough in Premier League. But we got off to great start, we wanted to come put pressure on, get some early goals and then control the game. That's exactly how it panned out."

Moussa Sissoko added a fourth late on -- his first goal for the club on his 44th appearance -- but afterwards all the focus was on Kane again after the Terriers became the fifth club to suffer at his hands this month.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "It's so difficult every three days to speak about him. He's in an amazing moment, he's scoring goals, his energy is fantastic -- how he presses, how he works without the ball. It's fantastic, it's only to wish he keeps going in the same way and help him to score goals."

The only downside for Spurs was a second-half booking for Dele Alli for simulation after he went down following a challenge from Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.

"I did not see it but I have to trust you if you tell me now it was [a dive]. What can we do? If it happened, he needs to improve. He needs to know he can't make this type of action, it's dangerous for him. He needs to learn," the Spurs boss said.

Spurs made it four straight away wins at the start of a league season for the first time since 1960-61, when they won the double following eight straight away wins at the start of the campaign, and Pochettino said: "It's like last season at White Hart Lane.

"Your confidence, your trust in your teammates and the way we play -- it [our away form] is for many reasons it happens. It's true we're in very good form away from home and we hope we continue in the same way."
