Chelsea maintain lead, Liverpool enjoy comeback win; Spurs thrash Watford

Chelsea restored their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 win against Bournemouth.

Chelsea's opener came courtesy of Adam Smith in the 17th minute, the Bournemouth defender deflecting in Diego Costa's close-range shot. Then Eden Hazard doubled Chelsea's advantage moments later, collecting an N'Golo Kante pass before rounding Artur Boruc to slot home.

Bournemouth fought back and Benik Afobe crashed a shot against the crossbar on 29 minutes before Joshua King's 42nd minute effort handed the hosts a lifeline with a deflected shot.

But Marcos Alonso's 68th-minute strike ended any hopes of a comeback with a free kick after Costa was fouled by Steve Cook.

Jurgen Klopp made changes as Liverpool won 2-1 against Stoke but had to rely on substitutes Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino to avoid defeat.

Seventeen-year-old Ben Woodburn was handed a first Premier League start and fellow teenager Trent Alexander-Arnold was also in the starting XI.

A Jonathan Walters header from a Xherdan Shaqiri cross a minute before half-time gave Stoke the advantage, leading Klopp to introduce Coutinho and Firmino at the break.

And their presence galvanised Liverpool who turned the game around with goals from Coutinho in the 70th minute and Firmino in the 72nd minute to remain third.

Son Heung-Min hit a brace as Tottenham kept their Premier League title ambitions alive with a comprehensive win over Watford at White Hart Lane.

With Mauricio Pochettino's men looking to reel in leaders Chelsea, top goal scorer Harry Kane was back on the bench less than a month after suffering an ankle injury.

But once again Spurs proved they do not need to rely on Kane's goals as Son struck either side of half-time to wrap up a convincing 4-0 win after quality finishes from Dele Alli and Eric Dier had set them on their way.

Manchester City eased to a comfortable 3-1 win against Hull thanks to an own goal from Ahmed Elmohamady and second-half strikes from Sergio Aguero and Fabian Delph.

Pep Guardiola recalled Claudio Bravo to City's starting line-up, while Kevin De Bruyne was named on the bench.

Elmohamady put City in front on 31 minutes as he turned a Jesus Navas cross into his own goal. And they added a second early in the second half as Aguero scored his 10th in as many games and his 28th of the season overall.

Delph made the points secure with an effort from the edge of the box, assisted by Raheem Sterling, before Andrea Ranocchia pulled back a late consolation goal for Hull following a Bravo error.

Southampton edged out West Brom to win 1-0 in a midtable clash at the Hawthorns.

Claude Puel's side went in front on 25 minutes when Dusan Tadic found Jordy Clasie on the edge of the box and he fired into the top corner.

Jake Livermore and Nacer Chadli both had chances as West Brom fought back in the second-half, but they were unable to find a breakthrough.

West Ham ended a run of five straight defeats and eased their relegation worries while adding to those of their opponents as they ran out 1-0 winners against Swansea.

Cheikhou Kouyate's 25-yard drive in the 44th minute put the Hammers in control and if it wasn't for Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski they could have had more.

Swansea reacted to going behind by bringing on Fernando Llorente and Luciano Narsingh at half-time but they were unable to convert their possession into chances against a West Ham side that defended well.

A fourth straight away defeat leaves Swansea in the relegation zone and two points behind Hull.

In the other game Middlesbrough and Burnley played out a goalless draw at the Riverside.

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton produced a stunning save to deny Alvaro Negredo a priceless winner as Burnley nudged Middlesbrough closer to the Premier League exit.

Heaton somehow managed to keep out the 67th-minute effort to preserve his clean sheet and assure his side of just a fourth league point on the road this season.

However, Heaton's heroics left Boro, who are now without a league win in 14 attempts dating back to Dec. 17, in ever deeper trouble with just seven games remaining.
