Adam Lallana limps off from England match after scoring opener vs. Spain

Adam Lallana has given Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp an injury scare after the midfielder limped off midway through England's friendly with Spain on Tuesday night.

Lallana headed straight down the tunnel at Wembley and was replaced by Theo Walcott in the 27th minute.

The 28-year-old fell under a challenge by Spain's Thiago Alcantara and was attended to by the England medical staff before walking off the pitch.

The England international had opened the scoring in the fixture when he converted from the penalty spot in the ninth minute. The Three Lions blew a 2-0 lead late in the match to draw 2-2 with Spain.

Following the match, manager Gareth Southgate said: "He's being assessed by the medical team. It was a great shame because I've really enjoyed working with him. He's an intelligent footballer and and very talented footballer who's now starting to add goals to his game for England. He was quite key to how we wanted to play tonight."

Lallana, who has been thriving from a deeper midfield role this season for the Reds, has played an integral part in Liverpool's blistering start to the campaign that has seen them reach the top of the Premier League.

The former Southampton man has been ever-present in the league for his club side this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in his 11 appearances.

Liverpool return to action following the international break on Saturday when they travel to the south coast to face Claude Puel's Southampton.
