Arsene Wenger: Bob Bradley is good for the Premier League

Arsene Wenger says Bob Bradley's appointment as Swansea manager is good for the Premier League as it will raise interest from the United States.

Bradley became the first American to take charge of a Premier League team when he was hired by the Welsh club last week, and faces a trip to the Emirates on Saturday in his first game in charge.

While the 58-year-old has faced some scepticism in Britain because of his background, Wenger -- who faced similar doubts when he took over Arsenal 20 years ago -- said it was a "fantastic opportunity" for the former U.S. and Egypt coach to show what he can do.

"It's good as well for the Premier League because the Premier League is taking off in the States and certainly to have an American will create even more interest for the Premier League in the States," Wenger said on Thursday at his news conference.

"I believe overall he is equipped to deal with what is requested of him ... Bob Bradley has a big experience, he's not a beginner. He has travelled a lot. He has accumulated experience in the States, and he's been in Egypt, he has been in France just recently. He is coming now to England, which is certainly for him a fantastic opportunity."

Bradley couldn't face a much tougher test in his first game, as Arsenal are on a five-game winning streak in the league. But Wenger remains cautious after Swansea won 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium last season, a game which all but ended the Gunners' title hopes.

"Last year we had a very negative experience with Swansea," Wenger said. "We have a good opportunity to show that we have learned from that and that we are capable of dealing with this type of opponent.

"And to show that we can deal with the kind of fixtures where we are the favourites. We were not always capable to do that last season and we want to show that we have moved forward."
