Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho predicts quiet deadline week

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has predicted that the club will have "a very quiet week, not surrounded by helicopters" as transfer deadline day approaches.

Mourinho said he was "more than happy" with the squad he has after United completed big transfer deals earlier in the summer.

And speaking at a news conference on Friday, he said that "in principle, there is nobody leaving and nobody is coming."

"I think we're going to have a very quiet week, not surrounded by helicopters, waiting for somebody to leave or to arrive. I am more than happy with the squad I have," he said.

"I have 23 players in the squad and, in principle, there is nobody leaving and nobody is coming.

"It's more than enough and, if you have a problem or an opportunity, then I have a few young players in the academy that I will be more than happy to give acceleration to in their process."

United travel to Hull City on Saturday, with former Old Trafford assistant boss Mike Phelan having guided the Tigers to six points from two games as caretaker manager.

Mourinho said: "I think the reality is that he was one of the most successful assistant managers in the country with invaluable experience.

"He has managed to organise the people, organise his team. I think he deserves the job."

Unted also have maximum points, but their manager said: "It's very early. You have teams with not many points now who will probably, in a couple of months, be in the top part of the table.

"You have teams in the top part of the table that probably will go down. It's just the beginning."
