West Ham's co-chairman David Sullivan undergoes heart surgery

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan is recuperating after undergoing heart surgery on Tuesday.

Sullivan, 67, underwent what the club confirmed was a minor, routine procedure.

His son David Jnr tweeted a picture of his father lying in his hospital bed and using his mobile phone as he recovered from the operation.

In the tweet, he went on to suggest his father was already back to negotiating the arrival of new players at West Ham.

"Dad's just had heart surgery woke up from operation and is straight back on the phone to sign more players," he wrote.

West Ham, who have been hit by injuries to Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll, are in the market for another striker.

Sullivan often leads the negotiations for new signings and will be key to West Ham securing any new recruits before the transfer deadline.
