Saido Berahino will see out West Bromwich Albion contract - sources

West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino has told the club he plans to see out his contract before leaving for free next summer, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Last month, ESPN FC revealed that Berahino was considering running down his deal at The Hawthorns after growing frustrated at the club rejecting bids for him.

Berahino's future has been the subject of speculation for several months, with West Brom rejecting bids from Stoke and Crystal Palace.

The former England Under-21 international turned down the offer of a new deal which would have made him the best-paid player at the club.

The Baggies are reluctant to sell Berahino without having a replacement lined up, and the collapse of their proposed move for Diafro Sakho from West Ham has left his future in limbo.

With the transfer window closing at the end of the month, the striker and his representatives have given official written notice that, as things stand, he will be staying at West Brom and seeing out his contract at the Hawthorns.

It means West Brom run the risk of losing Berahino for nothing next summer or seeing him sign a pre-contract with an overseas club in January.

Berahino has travelled with the West Brom squad for their Premier League opener at Crystal Palace and is expected to feature.
