David Moyes wins first friendly in charge of Sunderland

David Moyes won his first game in charge of Sunderland as the Black Cats won 2-0 over Stade Nyonnais in France on Monday.

Duncan Watmore scored a pair of penalties in the first half to guide Sunderland, who hired former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes last week to replace new England boss Sam Allardyce.

Watmore earned the first penalty when he was fouled in the box in the 38th minute, and George Honeyman drew the second just before the break.

Jordon Mutch scored to give Crystal Palace a 1-0 win over League Two side Colchester United.

In the ninth minute, Mutch took a pass from Jason Puncheon and sent in a fine strike off the underside of the bar.

David Nugent and Julien De Sart scored to give Middlesbrough a 2-0 win over Saudi champions Al Ahli.

Nugent opened the scoring in Spain in the 58th minute, before De Sart added a second 10 minutes later.
