Stevan Jovetic has criticised Manuel Pellegrini for not giving him a proper chance at Manchester City.
The Montenegrin striker has joined Inter Milan on loan, a move which will lead to a permanent transfer worth £14.25 million, after two seasons at City.
Jovetic is confident Inter will see him at his best and feels he is a stronger character after his tough times at the Etihad Stadium.
But the 25-year-old, who was only granted 11 league starts in two injury-hit years, felt he was treated unfairly, both when substituted and when omitted from City's Champions League squad for the second half of last season's competition.
"From the beginning I had a lot of problems," Jovetic told reporters in Italy. "Then even when I was playing well, the manager would substitute me right away. I still gave my all. Now I will show who I really am."
Jovetic, who cost City £22 million when he joined from Fiorentina in 2013, only made two substitute appearances in the final three months of last season and said he knew he needed to move when Pellegrini did not choose him among the 16 non-homegrown players permitted to play in the knockout stages of European competition.
"After the first year [at City] I knew I would stay, then things didn't go well, and I didn't play, so I decided to move," he explained. "Above all after being left off of the Champions League list.
"I grew up in Manchester, especially from a mental point of view, and I'll prove that on the pitch."
