Ozil came in for scrutiny from the English media when he wasted a penalty against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the last 16 in Champions League, and struggled for form during the second leg that saw Arsenal exit the competition.

"It's like that. Sometimes there is fire. I have to go through that," Ozil told Bild. "In Munich, I was injured after only three minutes. But I wanted to play on."

Ozil was substituted at half-time with a torn muscle, and did not return to the Gunners team before late April, when he started at Hull.

The playmaker could be selected for Arsenal's next meeting with Hull, when both sides meet in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Ozil has already won cup titles with his two previous clubs Werder Bremen and Real Madrid. He has now set his sights on a third trophy in a third country.

"I had ups and downs, I am satisfied," Ozil said about his first season at the Emirates. "Arsenal have not won a title in 10 years, and we can now win the FA cup. That would be my third cup in a third country."
