The Argentina forward scored the 94th-minute winner on the final day of the 2011-12 season to make City champions for the first time in 44 years, and he said that memories of the 3-2 win against QPR will help City if the title race is similarly close again.

He told FourFourTwo: "It does [help], but it's not just that game. The more you play, the more experienced you become. You must learn from your mistakes and not repeat them.

"Obviously no one expects to be level on points going into the last game of the season, but we know we have the mentality to repeat 2012."

Aguero, who hopes to make his comeback from a hamstring injury when City host Southampton on Saturday, believes City’s toughest opponents so far have been their two title rivals.

After the Southampton game, they travel Anfield on April 13 and he added: “Chelsea and Liverpool have been the best teams we've faced this season. Chelsea, both home and away, were tough matches. Liverpool were a good side, too, and the game at Anfield in April will be huge.

"Any game in the Premier League is difficult, especially away from home. It's all about doing things in the right way."
