Dzeko: We showed United who's boss

Edin Dzeko believes Manchester City’s 3-0 derby win over Manchester United showed that his side are the “bosses” of Manchester.

The Bosnian striker scored twice, including an opener after 42 seconds, as City completed a derby double over United, following their 4-1 win at the Etihad Stadium in September.

And it was their third successive victory at Old Trafford, after a 6-1 triumph in 2011 and a 2-1 win last season as City, who were far less successful than their neighbours for decades, moved 15 points clear of United.

Dzeko told the club’s official website: “We showed them again who is the boss in the city. I feel happy. It was all about us. It is good to win in a derby and especially when you win it like that. It was great for the fans to be here and celebrate again.”

The former Wolfsburg forward struck twice in the 6-1 victory and recorded his second brace at Old Trafford to take his tally to 20 goals for the season and he added: “Derby goals are always special.”

The result took City up to second place in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Chelsea, and with the opportunity to go past Jose Mourinho’s side in the closing weeks of the season.

Dzeko added: “We know we have [played] two games less than Chelsea. Now we are only three points behind them and still two games [in hand] to play.”
