Arsenal can appeal Gibbs red card
The Football Association has confirmed Arsenal can appeal "mistaken identity" regarding Kieran Gibbs' controversial red card at Chelsea.
• Palmer: Chelsea reiterate big-match mentality
Gibbs was sent off in the first half at Stamford Bridge by referee Andre Marriner after Gunners teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was ruled to have handballed Eden Hazard's shot at goal inside the area.
Marriner appeared to wrongly identify left-back Gibbs as the player who handled the ball and gave him a straight red card, despite Oxlade-Chamberlain's apparent protestations that he was the guilty party.
The FA outlined on its official Twitter account during the match of the process Arsenal could take in light of the error.
