Koeman 'interested in Swansea job'

Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman has enquired about the manager’s job at Swansea City, according to the Premier League club’s director John van Zweden.

Hicks: Laudrup vs. Monk

Garry Monk was appointed interim boss at the Liberty Stadium last month following Michael Laudrup’s sacking, and the Swans have so far been happy with the 35-year-old’s work.

However, the club are believed to be looking to appoint someone on a full-time basis, and Koeman, who is set to depart Feyenoord in the summer, has apparently registered an interest through his agent, Guido Albers.

Van Zweden is quoted as saying by Voetbal International: “People logically link me with Swansea-related questions, but I don't decide about this sort of business. Albers indeed approached with the question of whether Koeman was a suitable candidate for Swansea.

"I passed on the number of the agent to [chairman] Huw Jenkins and whether there has been any contact I really do not know. I know that the club is very pleased with Garry Monk."

Despite Monk impressing at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea’s Premier League status is far from secure, with the club lying just four points above the relegation zone.

"The club climbs up again, so there is no reason for a new coach," Van Zweden added. “Though it may change again if you lose three times in a row."
