Kolarov: City may need maximum points

Aleksandar Kolarov believes Manchester City may need to take maximum points from their last 12 games if they are to regain the Premier League title.

Mooney: Demichelis criticism unfair
Curtis: Merci, Monsieur Nasri
Mourinho: I'd swap places with City

City are six points behind leaders Chelsea, albeit with two games in hand, and could be nine points adrift of them after a weekend when they are in action against Wigan in the FA Cup while Jose Mourinho’s side host Tottenham in the Premier League.

Kolarov, who is in Dublin preparing for Serbia’s international against the Republic of Ireland, said in the Daily Telegraph: “It will be very difficult to the very end because now we have played two games less and we need to win them.

“It’s very important we do that because we want to keep things in our own hands. We have 12 more games to play and every single one of them is going to be tough. This is the important stage of the season and we have to hold our nerve.

“It is the team that handles the pressure better that will win. It’s massive for us. We might need to beat every single team we play between now and the end of the season to win the Premier League.”

City currently have 57 points and, if they take all 36 remaining, they would end the campaign on 93. No team has ever finished a Premier League season with 90 or more points and come second.
