Martinez hopeful over Lacina Traore

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has said he expects striker Lacina Traore to return within weeks rather than months after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Lacina Traore sustained the injury while warming up at Stamford Bridge.

O'Farrell: Lukaku's return

Traore, who joined on loan from Monaco in January, picked up the problem during the warm-up prior to Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea and is currently undergoing tests to determine the extent of the problem.

However, Martinez has told City Talk 105.9 that the Ivory Coast international is unlikely to be out for too long, although he has no intention of rushing him back into action.

“Obviously with this sort of injury it is normally weeks rather than months,” Martinez said. “The type of player Lacina is -- a sprinter -- means these sort of injuries need to be well recovered.”

Everton will at least be able to count on Romelu Lukaku when they host West Ham United on March 1 after he recovered from an ankle injury he sustained during the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on Jan. 28.
