Eto'o: Chelsea focused on future

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has echoed manager Jose Mourinho’s view that the club are building for the long-term.

Lythell: Terry keeps title bid on track

The Blues are currently top of the Premier League table -- one point clear of Arsenal -- following their 1-0 win against Everton on Saturday.

However, time and time again this season Mourinho has made a point of stressing that his side are focused on securing a top-four spot rather than winning the title itself.

And ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 first leg at Galatasaray on Wednesday, Eto’o, 32, has insisted that the club are not getting ahead of themselves, but simply taking things game by game.

“We have never thought that we can't win the title, but Jose Mourinho came to Chelsea to do big things for the long run which he is trying to do,” Eto'o told the club’s official website.

“We players believe that it is possible, but at the same time it is not our mission. Right now we are not thinking about other teams or the end of the season, we are just focused on our next game and that is Galatasaray.”

Eto’o, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Anzhi Makhachkala last summer, has scored eight goals for Chelsea in 27 appearances this season.
