Mourinho: Wenger a specialist in failure

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho described Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as a "specialist in failure" ahead of his side's FA Cup clash with Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho's war of words with Arsene Wenger has taken a new turn after the Chelsea manager described his Arsenal counterpart as a "specialist in failure."

• Delaney: Mourinho's retort puts spark in title race
• Cross: Criticism of Giroud is unfair
• Lythell: Rotation the key to ambitions
• Brewin: Eden for the top

Wenger, reacting to claims from Mourinho saying Arsenal have no excuses if they do not win the title this season, said the Chelsea boss has a "fear of failure."

But speaking at a news conference ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup tie with Manchester City this weekend, Mourinho said: "He's a specialist in failure. I am not.

"The reality is he's a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware, that is failure.

"If Mr Abramovich gives me eight years... In eight years you have to build so much, so much, so much. I don't want eight years.

"I just want my four years of contract and, after that, to deserve or not deserve the next contract."

Pressed on whether Wenger is correct in saying the title is Chelsea's to lose, Mourinho replied: "The champions are Manchester United, so Manchester United are the title's owner until the moment where, mathematically, they lose the title."

Last week, Mourinho was embroiled in another exchange of mind games with Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini.
