Alvaro Negredo hails prolific Man City
Alvaro Negredo has admitted he finds it hard to believe how prolific he and Manchester City have been this season.
The Spain striker has struck 23 times in his debut campaign in England, while Manuel Pellegrini’s team have scored 110 goals in all competitions before the end of January.
But Negredo, 28, is adamant City will not get complacent as they challenge for silverware on four fronts.
He told the Daily Mail: “To be totally honest it would be tough to imagine both myself and the team would be scoring quite as many goals as we have.
“But I think there is more to come. As an individual and a team we're not going to settle for what we’ve achieved so far.”
And Negredo refused to rule out the possibility of City winning an unprecedented quadruple by lifting the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup this year.
“It's possible simply because we're still involved in all four competitions,” he added.
Negredo said he respected manager Pellegrini because of the honesty the Chilean showed when he sold him when the duo were at Real Madrid.
Pellegrini was appointed by Los Blancos in 2009 and let Negredo join Sevilla after informing the target man he was unlikely to play at the Bernabeu.
And Negredo said: “He didn't make me go through the entire pre-season in the hope that I might be featuring. He doesn't hide from talking to you face to face and that’s what a dressing room wants from a manager. He's one of the reasons I’m here at City. It was never tough for me meeting up again.”
